Commitment to minority perspectives
non-discrimination policy
MyGenderIsX.com does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, immigration status, education level, sexual orientation, religious views, or military status in any of its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, hiring and firing of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, and provision of services. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our community.
MyGenderIsX.com is an equal opportunity volunteer organization. We will not discriminate and will take affirmative action measures to ensure against discrimination in employment, recruitment, advertisements for employment, compensation, termination, upgrading, promotions, and other conditions of employment against any employee or job applicant on the bases of race, color, gender, immigration status, education level, national origin, age, religion, creed, disability, religious affiliation, veteran's status, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
Commitment to anti-facism and anti-nationalism
Facism and nationalism are direct threats to minority groups, including those which do not fit within the boundaries of a binary gender system. MyGenderIsX.com refuses to publish, approve, support, or otherwise enable facism or nationalism in all its forms. Racism, hate speech, pro-eugenics, anti-immigrant, anti-refugee, and other aspects of facism or nationalism found within submissions or within the actions of submitter will result in a refusal to publish works by said perpetrator and the immediate take-down of previously published works by that person.
Safer space policy
A safer space is a supportive, non-threatening environment that encourages open-mindedness, respect, a willingness to learn from others, as well as physical and mental safety. It’s a space that strives to respect and understand each individual’s specific needs. Everyone who participates in the MyGenderisX.com community as a contributor, volunteer, or vendor has a responsibility to uphold the values of the safer space. Those who put the MyGenderIsX.com safer space at risk through their actions will be subject to disciplinary actions or removal from the community.
We say ‘safer’ realizing that not everyone experiences spaces in the same way as others, so any one set of guidelines established to create safety may not meet the requirements of everyone and there may be complications or lapses in fulfilling those guidelines in practice.
We believe in protecting radical and free self-expression in the art and written works that we showcase, however it is the utmost priority to us that our community feel safe and that we create a safer space in which to experience the work we curate.
Although MyGenderIsX.com seeks to cultivate a respectful and inclusive community in which hard topics and complex issues can still be discussed or addressed, it is inevitable that there will be conflict in the time we are learning and building together. This can be an incredibly valuable thing if it is managed in a constructive manner. MyGenderIsX.com maintains a basic process for dealing with conflict, based around the principle that a resolution deemed positive to all parties involved should always be sought first. Any conflict that at least one party feels cannot be resolved without some additional help, may seek the assistance from MyGenderIsX.com.
Provided that a perpetrator or person who has caused harm shows true, empathetic remorse for the harms caused and an immediate cease of all harmful actions, we see no reason why the previously problematic, oppressive or abusive behavior would continue to preclude them from participation in the MyGenderIsX.com community. Ultimately, this is a decision that would need to be made by the group of people working with them on these issues, including the person harmed. Furthermore, the temporary exclusion of people who have exhibited abusive or oppressive language or behavior is a measure to protect the safety of survivors and others in the community. Often, the result of abusive or oppressive acts is the self-directed exclusion of survivor(s) and their allies, and a temporary exclusion of the perpetrator may prevent the more permanent loss of these people.
Harassment of members of the community, vendors or volunteers will not be tolerated and anyone violating this policy may be removed from the community.
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments or attitudes related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, marital status, race, ethnicity, immigration status, or military status; deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of the community, inappropriate physical or electronic contact, and unwelcome attention (sexual or otherwise). Community members asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
If anyone engages in harassing behavior towards you, the MyGenderisX.com team will take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the community. If you feel you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact us immediately.
The MyGenderIsX.com team will be happy to help community members contact security or local law enforcement, report electronic harassment, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the harassment.
Whilst we would like to feel that we offer an environment in which you can voice concerns about incidents as and when they happen, we also welcome you to reach out to us to inform us of past harassment or incidents related to our contributors which made you feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
